Crazy Carrots!

Here’s how we impress people at parties with our amazing carrot knowledge – go on, give it a try!

Carrots, native to Afghanistan, were first grown as a medicine, not a food, and were originally red, black, yellow, white, purple…in fact anything except orange.
The longest ever carrot measured 5.14 metres in 1996 – that’s a big ‘un.
There is a carrot variety for every letter of the alphabet – luckily we’ve never been asked to name them – and there is a round variety that tastes just like…well, a carrot.
The orange carrot is a descendent of Dutch-bred carrots grown since the 17th century (now you see where the colour came from).
A teaspoon can hold about 2,000 carrot seeds and if that fails to impress, then there can be as much as 400,000 seeds to the pound. Use a calculator if you need to go heavier.
Carrots contain more sugar than any other vegetable – but they’re still far healthier than a chocolate bar obviously.
Carrots are a great source of vitamin A and one medium carrot, or a handful of baby ones, will count as one portion of your recommended five a day.

We could go on for hours (no really, call us and see)!
