NEW MUSINGS COMING SOON

I spend a lot of time walking in the fields, observing nature.

It always amazes me how much it can change, even in a short amount of time.  The weather here makes that possible, wild and wet one minute, and glorious sunshine the next....with a bit of snow thrown in for good measure!

bare fields

I had a break of about five weeks and was stunned that 'my' fields had gone from beautiful lush, soft green fronds of carrot tops, to a big field of nothing again.

It's not really my field, but I seem to have bonded with this particular one, I have watched it grow throughout the seasons.

From baby field with only a hint of what's to come, through difficult 'toddler' stages where too much rain threatened their young tender hearts.

Right through the sunshine/wind/rain/sunshine again to the final shots, emerald tops swaying gently in the sunshine.  Proudly showing off to anyone who cares to stop and look.

I take their photograph with pride, breathing in their earthy smell and stand silently in awe in this field of hidden gold.

ODE TO A CARROT (well if Robbie can write to a mouse!)

Whare ye gaun, ye golden angel?

Dissapeared, I canna say!

Your magic powers protects you sairly?

Tho' not awa fae my dinner plate!

Wi' butter an' thyme the oven awaits ye,

Tho' faith, I say I dine on majesty!
