Lossiemouth Raft Race – August 2009
Team Tio took to the choppy waters again to support the Lossiemouth Annual Charity Raft Race. At the helm (well stern actually) were dual Captain’s William and Tony, who shouted encouragement and helpful nautical tips to the crew on the use of the stylish hand made oars – the right hand vs. left hand steering technique clearly worked – as we finished a very respectable 5th out of 20 entries, a definite improvement on last years’ performance.
The event, run by RAF Lossiemouth raised £5,500 this year, money which will go to local charities whilst providing a fun and family-friendly day out. Over the years the event has raised thousands of pounds for local charities. The countoured upholstery (aka foam) was donated by George Storm of Forres. Team Tio contributed £200 to support the event and have a fun day out into the bargain. towards their charity fundraising.
Ardersier Primary School – Donation of nursery equipment
Tio are delighted to help local community nursery at Ardersier Primary School with the purchase of building blocks which are a proven aid in child development. Tio purchased two sets of hollow wooden building blocks at a cost £700. As the photograph shows they are already proving to be a winner with the young budding builders.
Building blocks help young children in a number of ways:
Socially: Large blocks play may be a young child's first experience playing in a group, while small block play may encourage an older child to work with others in solving problems.
Intellectually: Young children develop their language skills as they learn to describe sizes, shapes, and positions.
Physically As children reach for, pick up, stack, or fit blocks together, they build strength in their fingers and hands, and increase hand-eye coordination.
Creatively: Children can make their own designs, and build confidence when creating structures that did not exist before.
